Essential Oils for Pregnancy, Birth & Babies Paperback – May 24, 2012

Some of the reviews were complaining this was a big add for DoTerra Essential Oils.
Well, if you do any research you’ll find the two top producers of quality oils are DoTerra and Young Living.
I happen to belong to the Young Living crowd.
Even still I found this book very helpful.
Yes, the author does recommend DT oil blends, because *that’s what she knows*. If anything, find out the ingredients in those blends and make your own!
She gave a lot of good tips on using oils throughout pregnancy, labor, and newborn stages.
Even though she mentions DoTerra frequently I didn’t find it off putting, or under pressure to buy DoTerra – just gave me more ideas on how to deal with this pregnancy.
I am an essential oil educator and many people ask me about which oils can be used during pregnancy and while nursing. I love having this book to refer people to because the author is a very experienced midwife with years of practical experience. I just had a baby 4 months ago and followed the guidance in this book. It was the best pregnancy and birth of my four. I would like to comment on the review that said that this book is more of an advertisement for doTerra than anything else. If you use other brands of essential oils and haven’t experienced the difference of doTERRA then I understand you feeling this way. An author who has had such amazing success using this brand of oils couldn’t write about anything else. The labor recipe helped me so much during labor and the spray that you put on after birth to heal the trauma in the peri area is like no other! I am so grateful for this book and you will be too.
I am a student midwife and I have heard mixed things about using essential oils in pregnancy. One of my teachers at school, a naturopathic doctor, claimed that essential oils were not safe to use in pregnancy and were "known neurotoxins." I was hoping to educate myself about the evidence out there about using oils in pregnancy in order to give my clients informed choice about incorporating oils into their pregnancy for optimal health and wellness. I recently signed up with doTERRA to be a consultant and was looking for evidence-based information about using essential oils in my practice and with my clients. This book is full of one midwife’s anecdotal information about all the supplements and products she suggests for her clients, but no real research! The bibliography is shockingly sparse and includes no journal articles and references only five, yes 5 sources (four are books and the fifth is a midwifery magazine). Although I signed up for doTERRA, I was shocked by the fact that this book is *not* advertised as a doTERRA product-based book but clearly is. Much of the information is about ingesting huge quantities of oils daily which is a practice I would like to see research on before advising pregnant women to experiment on themselves and their babies. I just can’t take a book that seriously if it lacks evidence-based information when it comes to something as critical as safety and efficacy. It feels like it was thrown together rater than prepared with great care and research. If I had presented this book as a paper for midwifery school, I would have been failed because of the lack of evidence and research. I was so excited to find this book that I was planning on buying large quantities wholesale and selling them or giving them to my clients, but that will NOT be happening. Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue, Book 1 Hardcover – Deckle Edge, October 29, 1996
Author: Visit ‘s Neale Donald Walsch Page ID: 0399142789
.com Review
Blasphemy! Heresy! Who does this man think he is, claiming to speak directly to God?! Jesus did it, Muhammad did it, the Jewish prophets did it, but none of their Gods had the sardonic wit or raw verve of Prophet Walsch’s God. Neale Donald Walsch isn’t claiming to be the Messiah of a new religion, just a frustrated man who sat down one day with pen in his hand and some tough questions in his heart. As he wrote his questions to God, he realized that God was answering them… directly… through Walsch’s pen. The result, far from the apocalyptic predictions or cultic eccentricities you might expect, turns out to be matter-fact, in-your-face wisdom on how to get by in life while remaining true to yourself and your spirituality.
About the Author
Neale Donald Walsch is the author of the New York Times bestsellers: Conversations with God book 1, book 2, and book 3, as well as Meditations from Conversations with God book 1 and book 2, and the Conversations with God book 1 Guidebook. Walsch lectures and hosts workshops throughout the country, in addition to running his foundation, ReCreation. His books have been translated into twenty-two languages. He lives in Oregon.

Let me begin by saying that .com requires me to rate the book in order to write a review. Actually, I have no idea how to rate it because I’m not sure what the book represents. So my three star rating simply means "not rated." If compelled to, I could make an argument for anything from one star to five.
I read this book on the advice of a friend. He told me the book was "fascinating." I certainly agree.
The main thing I would like to say in the beginning is that this book shares some elements with Christianity, but is certainly not Christianity of the sort that most people will recognize. So if you do not like to read books that are at odds with your version of Christianity, avoid this one. It will be a one star book for you.
The author tells us that he had been writing down his religious and philosophical questions on a yellow legal pad for years. One day, he began to hear answers. He then wrote those answers down. What was "dictated" to him becomes the backbone of this book.
I have no way of knowing what the real source of these responses to the questions in the conversations is. It could be Divine communications. It could be Satanic ones. It could be a manifestation of the author’s psychology. There are a lot of other things it could be. You’ll have to decide for yourself. If you have a spiritual advisor or counselor whom you respect, that would be a good subject to discuss with her or him.
I found myself empathizing with the author’s perspective of the conversations. "I am . . . deeply embarrassed by my own life . . . ." "Yet I am encouraged by God to grant myself forgiveness for my failings and not to live in fear and guilt but to always keep trying — to live a grand vision. The Remaining: Aftermath Mass Market Paperback – June 24, 2014
Author: Visit ‘s D.J. Molles Page ID: 0316404179
Review
Survival horror at almost its very best … Molles and Orbit are certainly onto a winner in a series that deserves to be seen by genre fans be it online or on paper The Book Bag These are my current favorite post-apocalyptic zombie novels! … I love how this series builds fantastic characters and poses them with and against one another in super believable situations. I can believe this future…The action is detailed and vivid Boing Boing Anxiety and building desperation fuel this debut zombie thriller … Sharply targeted sentences depict an acutely human action hero who wrestles his anxiety … Molles’s precise construction gives readers ample reason to return Publishers Weekly A well written, taut adventure novel with characters that definitely make a mark SF Crowsnest
–This text refers to the Paperback edition.
About the Author
D.J. Molles has two published short stories, “Darkness” and “Survive,” which won a short fiction contest through Writer’s Digest. The Remaining series (The Remaining, The Remaining: Aftermath, The Remaining: Refugees and The Remaining: Fractured) are his first novels and have been met with overwhelming success. He lives in the southeast with his wife and daughter.
Series: The Remaining (Book 2)Mass Market Paperback: 448 pagesPublisher: Orbit (June 24, 2014)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 0316404179ISBN-13: 978-0316404174 Product Dimensions: 4.2 x 1.1 x 7.5 inches Shipping Weight: 7 ounces (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #29,696 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #362 in Books > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Science Fiction > Dystopian #442 in Books > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers & Suspense > Military #618 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > War
This was a great book! It is at least as good as the first one. I have to admit, when I ran across the original e-book, I was a little leery about a $2.99 novel, especially in a genre that is as hit-or-miss as horror. If you are on the fence about buying either the first or second The Remaining e-books, do not hesitate, buy them.
I usually find it beneficial when considering the merits of a review to know a little bit about the tastes of the reviewer. As far as authors go, my tastes tend to run towards Stephen King, Clive Barker, Tim Curran, and Joe McKinney. The Remaining: Aftermath easily surpasses McKinney for exposition and it surpasses Tim Curran for pacing. While it does not have King’s eeriness, or Barker’s flare for making the grotesque seem poetically beautiful, it does keep the reader turning the pages from beginning to end.
It is always a pleasant surprise for me when an author takes the time to research the equipment and weapons used by the characters. I am pleased to say that Mr. Molles continues to excel in this area in The Remaining: Aftermath, just he did the original book. I realize most (or at least, some) readers could not care less about things like that, but it ruins my suspension of disbelief when the author bungles technical details. It makes me think the author was too lazy to do the research. This was clearly not the case with Mr. Molles.
As far as the story, it picks up right where the first e-book ended, and flows along at a logical and steady pace. There is a good balance of action and horror, and the characters seem to behave in what I would imagine would be realistic ways, given their circumstances and environment.
I enjoyed the first book enough to pick up the second, but had a few problems with it. I should have realized that the biggest problem I had with the first book would ruin my day in the second.
* * * SPOILERS * * *
In the first book, it seems like we get a brief "oops I’m sorry" moment and some "oh I’m so angry," and then the fact that Lee’s home and bunker have been destroyed fades into the background. Really? I would be pretty upset if my house burned down, and especially if some kid I just met was the cause, and even MORE especially if my bunker was kind of important to my survival.
It’s okay, though. We’ll just shrug it off and move on. Oh and we won’t actually dig around to see if there’s anything we can salvage from the house or the bunker, even though the bunker is underground and had a bunch of protection to it. It’s not like we’re starving and dying of thirst!
But as I said, the rest of the first book carried me along and I was curious to see what came of the second book.
Surely Lee’s decisionmaking would get better?
No. It wouldn’t.
We got the supplies! We had to leave some folks behind, but we left them with supplies, too, and a means of finding our camp (even though we didn’t clear this with the leader of the camp)! What should we do now? Well we should definitely NOT go right back to camp with these super important supplies. No, we should all get involved in searching a town for some relatives of a person back at camp. We can just leave this truck full of precious supplies here at random. What could possibly happen to it?
